Mactel grounding Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) have extensive expertise with telecommunication building and equipment grounding systems and concepts. We are available to conduct complete ground audits that address the following grounding objectives:

• Protect maintenance personal against electrical shock
• Protect against lightning and high voltage transients
• Protect equipment and cards to ensure optimum longevity and correct operation

Mactel Grounding SMEs will visit a location and assess the existing ground backbone and grounding of all Telecommunications Transport and Access Equipment, as well as, D.C. and A.C. Power Plants, Power Plant Buss Bars and Cabling, and the D.C. Power Distribution Design.

Following the assessment, Mactel prepares a detailed Ground Audit Report and Grounding Schematic showing the existing ground structure and any recommended changes to improve the ground system.

The report is separated into two distinct categories:

Critical Items

• Those items or situations that pose serious risk to personnel
• Those that are in violation of National or Provincial Electrical Codes
• Those that may jeopardize network integrity and/or longevity of equipment

Minor Items

• Items that could be corrected but do not affect the integrity of the grounding system (i.e. lug type, conductor routing, conductor identification)
